The 3rd party installer used by Silk Performer 15.5 HF4 and Silk Performer 16.0 does not have native support for Windows Server 2012 R2. Trying to run the installer on that operating system reports a message that 'Installer UI Mode Error' and 'Installer User Interface Mode Not Supported.'

To work around this issue, set the compatibility mode for the installation executable. This can be done by right clicking on the silkperformer160.exe file in Windows Explorer and choosing 'Troubleshoot compatibility'.

Then choose 'Troubleshoot program' and 'The program worked in earlier versions of Windows but won’t install or run now'.

In the next window choose Windows 7

and then 'Test the program'.

This should launch the installer software in compatibility mode and allow Silk Performer to be properly installed.

EDIT: This issue has now been addressed in Silk Performer 16.5 and above.

This Knowledge Base article only applies to installations of Silk Performer 15.5 HF4 and Silk Performer 16.0
