I really liked xiii and also xiii 2, I heard lr is quite different, will I like it? Anyway, I skipped XIII because I know my opinion on it and it's not going to change so I installed XIII-2 last night. It seemed...stupider than I remember at the start. The fight with Lightning and Caius just didn't really seem as cool as it was supposed to be especially with dumb dialogue and QTEs (ugh) mixed in. However, once I got to controlling Serah and Noel shows up, I remembered why I liked this game in the first place. Those two were really refreshing compared to the cast of XIII. Although, I will say playing this reaffirms that I don't really miss random encounters, the battle going into a different area, or ATB. I really wouldn't mind the series going action but obvious it would need to improved upon and refined. They really need to stop trying to reinvent the wheel with every game when it comes to the battle system and decide on a 'base' system for the series going forth imo.
